Interior Photography for a Playful Transformation: Atwater Village Home Designed by Abby Pendergrast

Nestled in the heart of Los Angeles, this Atwater Village home, featured in Living Etc magazine, is a stunning testament to the power of vibrant design and thoughtful creativity. Styled by Abby Pendergrast, the home embraces bold colors, playful patterns, and curated textures, making it a standout project for interior and architectural photography.

As a Los Angeles-based interior photographer, I was thrilled to capture the essence of this space. The project highlights Abby's signature design philosophy: mixing playful color palettes with vintage-inspired elements while maintaining a cohesive, livable flow. Every room tells a story, creating an unforgettable visual experience.

This project’s unique vibrancy and thoughtful execution garnered attention beyond the digital feature—it was also highlighted in the December 2024 print issue of Living Etc. Being included in such a renowned publication is an incredible honor and underscores the importance of capturing interior spaces with intention and artistry.

Key Design Highlights

  1. The Dining RoomThe dining room shines with retro-inspired cantilever chairs, upholstered in plush rust velvet, paired with a modern wood table. The wallpaper, featuring oversized botanical prints, adds a whimsical yet sophisticated vibe. The soft natural light filtering through sheer white curtains was the perfect complement to highlight the textures and colors.

  2. The Living AreaThis space is a celebration of curated art and cozy elegance. A striking abstract painting anchors the room, while a retro mustard-and-powder-blue rug provides warmth and intrigue. The mid-century modern coffee table and deep-brown accent chair perfectly balance contemporary and vintage styles.

  3. The EntrywayA functional yet stylish entryway introduces the home’s personality with its vivid cobalt blue built-ins and a black statement mirror. Designed with both form and function in mind, it’s an inviting space that immediately captures attention.

Why Atwater Village Is Perfect for Design Inspiration

The Atwater Village neighborhood is known for its creative energy and charm, making it an ideal backdrop for unique interior designs like this one. From vintage shops to architectural gems, it’s no wonder designers and homeowners in Los Angeles are drawn to this eclectic area.

The Role of Photography in Elevating Design

As an interior photographer based in Los Angeles, my goal is to showcase the designer's vision while creating imagery that feels both authentic and aspirational. Capturing this project involved a careful balance of natural light, angles that emphasized the home’s vibrant personality, and a focus on the details that make each room special.

This project is a perfect example of how thoughtful interior design and professional photography can transform a space into something extraordinary. Being featured in the December 2024 issue of Living Etc was not just a milestone but also a reflection of the collaborative effort between designer and photographer.

Whether you're a homeowner, designer, or architect, investing in the right visuals is key to telling your story. If you're looking for a Los Angeles-based photographer to capture your next project, I’d love to help bring your vision to life.
